PETER LIVERSIDGE

PETER LIVERSIDGE

An odd but strangely alluring piece was Peter Liversidge’s “A wall of gold Masks”.  The artist used found card, wood, polystyrene, foam, rubber, stone and imitation gold leaf to create very rudimentary masks.  Some of them reminded me of ghetto-blasters from the 1980s.  While the pieces seem simple to replicate (a fun way to put those Amazon boxes to good use), the overall composition strikes me as original and I can’t help but admire Peter for finding a clever usage for his scraps.  Their golden outlines looked particularly lovely set against the navy blue wall.
